The shortlist is really two shortlists. Villa Horizon sits 42 minutes from your gate. The other five are 85 minutes to 2¼ hours away, and the three western houses — Six-Fours, Sanary and Saint-Cyr — are all closer to Marseille airport than to the one you're flying into. Airbnb ranks Villa Abalone in its top 5% and Villa Horizon in its bottom 10%; those two are also the cheapest and the most convenient respectively.

What the gap is worth
Super Cannes is a 42-minute transfer. Saint-Cyr is 137 minutes. That is a three-hour difference across arrival and departure — most of a day, and the difference between a villa you can reach before dinner and one you arrive at in the dark.
It also changes day trips. From Vallauris, Nice, Antibes, Mougins and Grasse are all inside 40 minutes. From Six-Fours or Saint-Cyr, the entire Riviera east of Toulon is a two-hour drive and effectively off the table — those two are Marseille-and-Cassis bases that happen to be on your list.
If you keep a western villa
Six-Fours is 71 minutes from Marseille Provence and 33 from Toulon-Hyères; Saint-Cyr is 70 and 46. Both are cheap to reach — just not from Nice. Re-checking flights into MRS would erase the penalty entirely, and Nice–Marseille is a 2h35 TGV if you'd rather not fly twice.
Villa Horizon quotes its own airport transfer at €250 each way, by Mercedes van. A taxi from NCE to Cannes is a fraction of that — worth pricing before accepting.
What late October actually is
The single biggest difference between these five is not the houses. It's whether the town around them is still awake.

Sea still about 20 °CWarmer than the air on a grey day, and warm enough to swim if you don't mind it brisk.

Le Lavandou / CavalièreThinnest. Hôtel Les Roches closed 27 September; the Porquerolles boat drops to Tue/Wed/Sun only.
Two hard dates worth pinning. Cheval Blanc St-Tropez — and with it the three-star La Vague d'Or — closes for the season on 11 October 2026. Hôtel Les Roches at Le Lavandou, the one-star L'Oursin, closed on 27 September. Both are gone before you land. Cannes, Antibes, Bandol, Sanary and La Ciotat are unaffected.

If your party is ten or fewer: Villa Abalone, Sanary
It is the best-reviewed and the cheapest at once. Airbnb's own ranking puts it in the top 5% of homes; twenty-three reviews, all five stars, 5.0 for cleanliness, accuracy, check-in and communication. €8,000 for eleven nights is €727 a night — 41% less than Sainte-Maxime for the same headcount and a far thinner record. Private sea access, heated pool, sauna, steam room, and the best market in France fifteen minutes away and open all year.
The price. Two hours and seven minutes from Nice, each way. If you can move the flights to Marseille, that objection disappears — and so does the main argument for anywhere else.
If convenience wins: Villa Horizon, Super Cannes
42 minutes from your gate, seven bedrooms for fourteen, in the one town here that behaves the same in October as in July. Lérins ferries, the Picasso museum in its own village, Antibes and Mougins inside 40 minutes, and a Bib Gourmand up the road.
But. It is the only listing Airbnb flags in the bottom 10%, accuracy and value both sit at 4.5, 17% of reviews are four stars or worse, and two of the seven bedrooms are staff-sized. The pool is €1,000 a week extra and the jacuzzi €500. Price it with those in, then decide whether the hour you save each way is worth the operator you get.
Two I would drop. Villa Caméléon: zero reviews on the listing, 80% host response rate, no air conditioning, no blackout curtains, smoking allowed indoors, the pool closes the day before you leave, and it is the furthest point from your airport. And Sainte-Maxime at €13,500 — a genuine 5.0, but across five reviews from a host of one year, for the same ten guests Abalone takes for €5,500 less.
Still unpriced: Six-Fours, Villa Caméléon and Villa Horizon. Six-Fours is the other top-tier record here — Superhost, Guest Favourite, 31 five-star reviews — so its number is the one most likely to change this ranking.
What's missing, and how to fill it
Three things I could not get
- Three of the six prices. Airbnb computes rates server-side for a signed-in session only — nothing in the public page, the GraphQL sections query or the structured data carries a number. Six-Fours, Villa Caméléon and Villa Horizon are still blank.
- Verbatim review text. Same reason. The star distribution, the six category scores and the topic tags on each villa slide are the full public record — and they are more comparable than a handful of quotes anyway.
- Your wishlist (airbnb.com/wishlists/2137632609). Private to your account — if it holds anything beyond these six, I haven't seen it.

- Sanary (Abalone): what the €8,000 includes — it is agency-managed, so ask about cleaning, linen and any concierge minimum.
- Super Cannes: total with pool heating for 11 nights, and what the two small bedrooms actually are.
- Six-Fours: cost of heating the pool 21 Oct – 1 Nov, and whether check-in can run past 9pm.
- Sainte-Maxime: whether the infinity pool heating is included at that date.
- Le Lavandou: ask for more photographs. Nineteen is not enough to book on.
